Milwaukee, WI (May 5, 2016) – With admission waived and more than 40 local artists, Art in the Green, an indoor art fair, will take place at the Mitchell Park Domes, May 21 and 22. Friends of The Domes will present the inaugural event throughout the conservatory lobby and annex, at 524 S. Layton Blvd.
The Show Dome and art fair will be open from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Saturday and until 4 p.m. on Sunday.
Media represented include painting, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry, glass, and photography. Pieces are priced from $10 to several hundred dollars. Clarke Square Artists, residents of all ages working together at the Tree of Life Studio, will also present their work. Through the Clarke Square Neighborhood Initiative, the group channels their talents into creating public art as well as their own artwork.
In addition to the artwork found in the lobby and annex, an installation of 52 paintings will be placed outdoors. The piece, Poppies: Four Seasons by Adrienne Pierluissi, will span 300 feet, with 13 paintings depicting each season. The project incorporates text within the large abstract landscapes.
To keep kids and kids at heart engaged, the Friends will be offering the opportunity to make fairy gardens. Supplies for each garden include a container, soil, small rocks, and a plant. The fee for each garden is $15. Additional materials and accessories will be available for purchase at The Domes Gift Shop.
